NOTES ON THE FORM

BLUE TIGER SURPRISES CARDHU LOSES RIDER GOING WELL AT THE TIME [ny TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PALMERSTON NORTH, Saturday Lady Arikitoa was the favourite for the Ladiesi' Bracelet, but aftor having every chance she was decisively beaten by Santoft. Santoft lay in tho rear early, but moved up entering tho straight, and took on Lady Arikitoa, who had headed tho pacemaker Air Force. The struggle did not last long before Santoft assorted his superiority. The winner, a brother to Playground, was only recently taken over by C. Boyle, and he has improved a lot. Blue Tiger surprised when he defeated ths favourites, Garter Red and Karl Colossus, in the Rangitane Plate but they had every chance to beat him. He made all tho running, being followed to Ihe straight by tho favourites and Ihapora. In the run home, Blue Tiger never looked like being caught, while Garter Red was just as easily second from Earl Colossus. The rest were well beaten, but Jean Batten, a half-sister to Land Tax, showed promise. The winner gave a promising display, although they were not a good lot. He was unsighted at Marton on Wednesday. Prosy Boy's Sound Display Cardhu and the Dozie-Prosy Boy bracket monopolised the attention of investors in the Manawatu Hunt Jubilee Cup. Supporters of tho favourite were unfortunate that Cardhu tossed his rider when going well in the lead with the winner. High Society and Petrarch were up with Cardhu and Prosy Boy for a round, but going out of the straight for the lajt mile Cardhu and Prosy Boy began to draw away. Cardhu took off badly for the next fence and hit hard, losing his rider, who. made a fine but fruitless effort to stay on. This left Prosy Bo;? well clear of Taura Lad and Petrarch. *Petrarch made a bad jump at the five furlongs, leaving Taura Lad to chase Prosy Boy. The latter was all out at the finish, but so was his challenger, and Prosy Boy held him safely. Croydon was a poor third, followed by Petrarch and then the others at intervals. Miss Pango ran off at the second of the stand double the first time. The winner gave a good sound display. Cardhu jumped well but for his one blunder, for which he was not altogether responsible, as there was bumping going into the fence. He would have been hard to beat. Arrow Lad's Half-sister Celerrimus won the Hack Sprint decisively. Bazaine went out and set a cracking pace, being clear on the turn, followed by Celerrimus, Happy Hunting, Waiiteland, Gay Boy, Dampier, Royal Feast and Windward. They were fairly strung out as they rounded the turn and Bazaine led into the straight, where sh3 began to weaken. Celerrimus ran past her in a few strides, and had the race won a furlong from the post. Windward finished well for second, Whetuma also coming on well for third. Bazaine was fourth, with Happy Hunting, Royal Feast, Gay Boy, Colenso and Dampier well up. The winner, who is a half-sister to Arrow Lad, appears to be decidedly on the improve. Royal Feast ran a poor race, btt Whetuma put up a great effort alter being right back early. Saltspray scored a comfortable win over the favourite Tudor in the Flaxbourne Hurdles. Headland made all the running from Saltspray, Tudor and Manawatu. Saltspray and Tudor went after Headland on the turn and Saltspray lei into the straight from Tudor and Manawatu. Once over the last fence, it was only a matter of keeping Saltspray going for him to win comfortably Tudor had no difficulty in holding Manawatu, and then came Gallivanter, Headland, Brigadore and Invictus. Slippery Finishes Last Saltspray pulled very hard for over a mile, but he was always going well, and gave a fine display of straight jumping. Tudor ran a good race under his weight, although he had no chance with thei winner. These, two really outclassed ;he others. Brigadore gave an indifferent display over the fences, hitting tho third one entering the straight very hard. Billy Boy was up near the leaders early, but ho soon drifted back. Investments were well spread over the open seven furlongs field, but Full Throttle was favourite. He ran a poor race, however, and was never dangerous. Carfex tried to win all tho way, but Glenvane, who had been handy throughout, took charge in the straight and won running away. It was a big improvement on recent form. Pladio was a moderate third after having every chance, and the rest were well beaten. Slippery finished last. Another decisive win was recorded by Tres Sec in the concluding event. He lay toward the rear early, but moved up leaving the back stretch, and just bided his time to the straight, where he ran right away. Whetuma repeated her earlier good effort and cutout the favourite Dorado for second. Round Score ran a poor race. TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB ELECTION OF COMMITTEE The three retiring members of tho committee of tho Takapuna Jockwy Club, Dr. Friedlnnder, Mr. R. T. Michaels and Mr. L. Alderton, have been nominated unopposed for the ensuing year. FULL CHARGE'S INJURY X-RAY EXAMINATION LIKELY The injury to the near hind leg received by tho Victoria Grand National Hurdles favoui-ite Full Charge when he fell at the first fence in the race was stated to be still causing much anxiety last week. So swollen was the leg and so painful was it to the touch that it. was impossible to make a thorough examination to discover tho exact cause of tho trouble. Mr S. O. Wood, veterinary surgeon, thought that Full Charge might have jarred the coffin bono, while there was a possibility that a piece of bono had been chipped off the shin. The horse had not lain down for a week. Ho was unable to put his foot to the ground and the weight was causing the off hind leg to swell. • Mr. Wood stated that in all probability an X-ray photograph would be taken of Full Charge's leg. If a bono was broken or chipped, tho leg would be set in plaster of paris and Full Charge might be put in slings.
