CONTESTS IN AUCKLAND TAYLOR TO MEET AITKEN The Auckland Boxing Association will stage a big programme at the Town Hall on Monday evening next. Hie main attraction will be a professional feather-weight bout between Billy Aitken, of Wellington, and Frank Taylor, of Auckland. Aitken recently defeated Billy McKay in Auckland, and he gave an attractive display, laylor is well known to the Auckland public as an aggressive fighter. The following amateur bout* have been arranged:—Feather-weight: R.Nixon (Northern Boxing Club) v R. Wilson (Leys Institute) ; welter-weight, W. Shields (E. Donovan) v. R. Cook (H. Donovan): flyweight. H. Brady (V. Hogg) v. S. Stock (W. Williams). Emergency bout: light-weight. E. Estall (V. Hogg) v. R. McLachlan (E. Donovan). There will also he a special teams match, 10 men a-side, with one-minute rounds, between members of the Northern Boxing Club and an Auckland team. The contestants are. MUDGWAY GAINS DECISION [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT] WAIHI, Sunday The professional boxing contest held here last night between Neville Mudgway, of Waihi. 9st 12lb, welter-weight champion of New Zealand, and Ted Oxley, of Pahiatua. 9st Blb, former Dominion light-weight champion, was won on a narrow points margin by Mudgway after going the full distance of ten rounds. It was a clean and clever exhibition of boxing on the part of both contestants, and the decision was in doubt all the way. ROBERTSON BEATS HUTCHINS [BY TELEGRAPH —rRESS association] CrISBORNE, Sunday Watty Robertson, of Gisborne, lOst. 71b.. defeated Frank Hutchins, Taranaki, lOst. Tib. in a 10-rounds professional match last evening before a moderate house. Robertson won every round and took the decision on a technical knock-out in the tenth round.
