RETURN ON INVESTMENTS

Following is a list of Saturday's transactions on New Zealand Stock Exchanges and the return from investment at the quoted prico. The exchange premium on dividends payable in sterling is included in the calculation of returns. The yield on 4 per cent Government loans includes redemption and that on 3£ per cent loans is for interest alone, and' covers only the period for which the loans are tax-free.

STAPLES' BREWERY INTERIM DIVIDEND UNCHANGED The: directors of J. Staples and Companv, Limited, brewers, Wellington, have declared an unchanged interim dividend of 2J per cent. Payment will be made on August 7. MERCANTILE INSURANCE The directors of the Mercantile Mutual Insurance Company, Limited, Sydney, recommend a final dividend of 4 per cent, making, with the interim dividend of 3 ]>er cent, 7 per cent for the year. The dividend for the previous year was 6 per cent.
