BLEDISLOE HALL
NOVELTY OF DESIGN RECOGNITION IN ENGLAND [from our own correspondent] Hamilton, Sunday Recognition of the novel features contained in the construction of the Bledisloe Agricultural Hall, the latest addition to the Waikato Winter Show Association's buildings in Hamilton, is contained in The Builder, a well-known English trade journal of dune 7. A full pago is devoted to photographs and a description of the building. After describing the electric-welding method used in the construction of the hall, the article conclude# as follows: — "It would appear that the essence of the scheme is careful designing and close co-operation between the engineer and the steel fabricators. The hall will be of especial interest to the engineers of Great Britain because it illustrates the efficiency and economy of an entirely new method of fashioning and using steel in buildings and other structures. The hall has also impressed the recent Governor-General, and he has permitted it to bo named after him. It may be that some changes of great importance to the steel industry are indicated, and it is possible building regulations will require some modification so that the steel industry may obtain the benefits which this building has been proved under commercial test.s to possess. The authorities and citizens of Hamilton may well be proud of having encouraged the experiment of such a large and practicable scheme unhampered by restrictions, a condition so essential to the development of new technique in construction."
