QUEEN CARNIVAL ENDS
NORTHCOTE HIGH SCHOOL The queen carnival competition in connection with the Northcote District High School was concluded on Thursday evening, when the voting was announced at a dance in the King's Theatre at Northcote. There were four candidates, representing the girls' and boys' "houses." The votes recorded for the respective queens were:—Miss Karen Dare-Jones, of Birkenhead, representing Miro (captained by Alison Smith), and Tainui (Irvine Neil), 12,303j Miss Patricia Grady, of Northcote, Kotuku (Kathleen Roebuck), and Arawa (Arthur Colegrave), 10,145; Miss Patricia Hely, of Glenfield, Kuku (Stella Hastid), and Matatua (Cyril Ibister), 7579; Miss June Hilder, of Birkdale, Rnru (Una Shutes), and Takitimu (Alan Wrightson), 7068. • | Approximately £l5O was raised for much-needed ground improvements and extension of school sports grounds. The coronation ceremony is to he held next month both at Birkenhead and Northcote.
