THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE 1 KAURI TIMBERS IMPROVE Thero was an active tone in the investment market 011 the Auckland Stock' Exchange yesterday. A feature was a rise of 2s 3d in Kauri Timbers, which sold at 22s 3d. Government loans sold freely at unchanged to firmer rates. An 'improvement of os occurred in ]938-52 3.} per cent stock, which sold at JLIOB f>s, while ]94(3 -i per cents sold 2s Gd better at £'lOS J2s Cd. Sales at current rates were made in 1910 bonds and 1919 and 1055 stiick. Levels for banks were higher, but New Zoalnnds sold 3d weaker at -Vis Gd. However, offers closed firmer at 51s 3d. New South Wales gained 2s Gil to sell at £'32 2s Gd. while Nationals of New Zealand were traded unchanged at GSs 9d. Levels for insurances were steady and no business was done. Inquiry for Kauri Timbers was ]s firmer at 225, and a parcel was transferred at 22s 3d, a rise of 2s 3d. Nationals and Taupo Totaras were placed at the ruling levels. Kaiapoi Woollens (7s paid), were done <1(1 higher at Gs Id. In" the miscellaneous section, British Tobaccos sold at 39s Gd and then at 39s 9d, a full rise of Gd. Morris Hedstroms were 7d stronger on sale at 21s 7(1, and Dunlop-Perdriaus eased 2d in dealing at 16s Id. There was other business at current prices.
