BABY COMPETITION
MANY ENTRIES RECEIVED PLUNKET SOCIETY'S EFFORT [from oub own correspondent] HAMILTON", Friday Entries totalling 270 were received by the Hamilton branch of the Plunket Society in connection with a baby competition which launched to-day. The competition, which will continue for ten days, is being held in Mr. H. D. Caro's premises, and is rausing widespread interest. Funds are required by the society for its work in Hamilton and Frankton.
The baby competition was opened with a function which took the form of afternoon tea supplied by Mr. Caro. The president of the branch, Mrs. A. M. Bislev, welcomed the visitors, and thanked Mr. Caro. She explained the objects of the society and the purpose of the competition, which, she hoped, would receive general support. Every vote recorded would represent Id for the society. The Mayor, Mr. J. JR. Fow, congratulated the branch on the number of entries received, and said the competition was a unique one. The babies whose portraits were exhibited were very beautiful, and demonstrated that the«e was little evidence of malnutrition in the Waikato. Mr. Fow paid a tribute to the work of the Plunket Society, and expressed the hope that the public of Hamilton and the surrounding district would support the competition.
