THE FUTURE OF ORAKEI
Sir. —I would like to say a word or two to give a thought to those who object to the Maoris having their rights in any way infringed upon. Mr. George Graham mentions the Treaty of Waitangi. It is to this treaty I would like tc draw attention. There were two Maoris. Waka Sens and his brother. Patuone. who stood by Hobson. Had it not been for them all the white people at that time assembled would have become one with the Maori people; they would have been their guests and would have been silent guests. Let the Maoris enjoy their home with all its associations wit la the past to its full enjoyment. T. Kendall Williams.
