Mrs. Lan MacEwan, Vincent Avenue, I ten mora, lias returned from a visit to Wanganui.

Mrs. N. Carnarvon, of Mangapai, North Auckland, is spending a holiday in Auckland.

Mrs. Peter Kirkealdie, of Wellington, who has been visiting Auckland, has returned South.

Mrs. S. F. Burgess, of New Plymouth, is visiting Hamilton and will later visit Auckland.

Mrs. Agmen-Smith, who has been the guest of Mrs. C. W. Tringham, of Talavera Terrace, Wellington, has returned to Auckland.

Mrs. K. Trembath, of 101 Grey Street, Hamilton, has been spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. 11. Vialoux, Epsom.

Mrs. J. Bradmorc, Tauranga, Mrs. G. White, North Auckland, Mrs. D. L. Kobson, Christchurch, Mrs. C. G. Edes, Wanganui, and Miss M. C. Glenny, Hawke's Bay, are at the Station Hotel.

At a meeting of the Henderson branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, a paper was read i>y Mrs. Lowe, and an outline given of the history of the organisation's magazine. Members stood as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mrs. E. R. MeCombs, when a vote of sympathy with her family was passed. Mrs. Piatt presided.

A meeting of the British Israel Women's League was hold on Thursday afternoon in the reading room in Queen Street. The president. Mrs. Cranston, welcomed the members and visitors. Miss Neale, M.A., gave an address on tho " Birth of the Nation," and Mrs. Kay sang. A Union Jack and a cloth beautifully worked with the Royal Coat of Arms, were presented to tho league by Miss K. Alexander. General discussion and afternoon tea followed.

The monthly meeting of the Remuera branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held last week. Mrs. Hugh Kasper presided. A talk 011 alcohol and its effects on the brain was given by the president. As a mark of sympathy with the family of the late Mrs. E. R. MeCombs. the members stood in silence. Mrs. Kasper was congratulated on having been made a Justice of the Peace. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. Mrs. Phillips contributed vocal solos.
