STOCK SALES

FRANKTON QUOTATIONS DEMAND FOR OX BEEF EASIER INQUIRY FOR SHEEP [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Tuesday There was a medium yarding of all classes of sheep at the Frankton saleyards to-day. Competition for both wethers and ewes was not strong, the majority of lines failing to reach the owqers' reserves. A uood yarding of fat lambs met with spirited bidding and sold at late rates. Ox beef was yarded in smaller numbers, the majority of the entries being of good quality. The market for this class of stock was again firm at late rates. Six steers sold on account of one vendor averaged £8 19s. A smaller yarding of cow and heifer beef was offered to buyers, with only a small proportion of finished cattle. Bates in this section were unchanged. A short yarding of second quality and boner cows realised slightly improved values. Only a small entry of vealers was offered, the demand for quality lines being fair. There was again a small yarding of pigs, values being unchanged. The auctioneers report as follows: —■
