"A RUNAWAY GIRL"
SEASON EXTENDED In accordance with insistent public requests, the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society will present its very successful revival of the well-known musical comedy, "A Runaway Girl," on three extra occasions—on Friday night, at a matinee on Saturday, and on Saturday night. This is undoubtedly the most successful of all the society's many fine productions and is a revelation of the heights attainable by amateur artists. Much of the great appeal lies in the fascinating musical score, which by its fresh and romantic charm is reminiscent of Sullivan. Such numters as the "Piccannies" item, the "Tarantella" ballet, and the songs "Follow the Man from Cook's," "Sly Cigarette" and "Beautiful Venice" have been particularly well received. A special feature is the chorus work, which has excellent volume and is well balanced.
