BEAUTIFYING HAMILTON
ACTIVITIES OF SOCIETY REVIEW BY CHAIRMAN [:fkom our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday " The society has operated very satisfactorily during the past year, and the results of our efforts have won frequent commendation from visitors to th? town," states Mr. W. H. Paul, chairman of the Hamilton Beautifying Society, in the report to be presented to the annual meeting of the society on Thursday evening. Mr. Paul states that 1800 street trees are now receiving the attention of the society, while during the year Japanese maples and liquid amber trees were planted in several streets. Further improvements had been carried out in Memorial Park. The work done along the river bank and in other parks in the town is described in detail, while it is stated that 60,000 bedding flower plants, <SOO conservatory plants, 400 trees and .shrubs, and 4000 hydrangeas had been grown. Mr. Paul states that the annual free fair had been a pronounced success, nnd he pays a tribute to the work done in connection with the fair by the ladies' committee Receipts during the year included the borough subsidy of £1200; interest on investments, £233; profits from fair, £136; donations and subscriptions, £2?. The rear ended with a credit balance of £BS/
