ROUGH RUGBY MATCH
TE KOHANGA TROUBLE GAME TO COUNT A3 DRAW [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE. Tuesday A decision that tho rough match between Bombay and Te Kohanga at Te Kohanga on Saturday, which had to be stopped by tho referee, Mr. L. K. Brown, 15 minutes before time, should be counted as a draw, was made by the management committee of the amalgamated Pukekohe and Franklin Rugby Sub-unions, at Pukekohe last evening. The last 20 minutes of the game were marked by much unnecessary rough play on the part of Te Kohanga players, and when the referee awarded a goal to Bombay following a penalty kick given for obstruction, the spectators and Te Kohanga players immediately commenced an uproar. After a delay, the To Kohanga players refused to continue, and the referee stopped tho match and awarded it to Bombay. The score before the kick was taken stood at 8 points all. In his report presented to the meeting last evening, Mr. Brown said he had awarded the goal in error, as he later found the kick had not been successful. The matter was discussed at length by the committee, and it was finally decided that the game should be called a draw. It was agreed, however, that the Te Kohanga Club should be warned that a repetition of such tactics would mean disqualification. A vote of censure on the conduct of the Te Kohanga captain, M. Taua, who was ordered off, was also passed. This was Taua's tirst offence in many years of football. The other Te Kohanga player ordered off, J. Karaka, was disqualified for five weeks.
