PAPATOETOE SOCIAL
RETURNED SOLDIERS' CLUB The annual social and dance arranged by the Papatoetoe Social Committee of the Otahuhu and District Returned Soldiers' Association was held in the Papatoetoe Town Hall last week. There was an attendance of fully 400 members and friends and an enjoyable evening was spent. The president of the association, Mr. M. J. Barrett, congratulated the committee on its successful efforts and referred to the splendid results which obtained from social contact among members and returned men generally. The programme, which included dancing and bridge and five hundred, was directed by Messrs. J. Kitto and R. V. Closey. The winners of the card games were: Bridge, Mrs. Finlay and Mr. W. Benjamin; five hundred, Mrs. 11. Rhodes and Mr. J. Kidd. A ladies' committee, which assisted in the arrangements, Comprised:—Mrs. Closey, Kitto, C. Winstanley, F. Fielden and S. Wagstaffe. Supper was served to the company by members of the association and was followed by community singing of war-time songs.
