CHILDREN'S DANCE
A children's fancy-dress ball was held in the Avondale Town Hall last week, under the auspices of the local Returned Soldiers' Association. There was a wonderful variety of character representations, and the judges had a difficult task in selecting the most outstanding. Twenty-six were chosen as under: —Shirley Cackhead, Juno Denny Bobby Jones, Barbara Andrew, Brenda Skellon, Merve Williams, Aileen Bonham, Leslie McGuire, Coral White, Juno Pearson, Lily Manson, Ross Mackay, Bryan Booker, Mavis Grove, Joan Lyons, Trevor Tate, Betty Roper, June Whittome, Pat Biggs, Mavis Lupton, Olive Ball and Eric Ball. All the tiny tots were given prizes as well. Ice creams, fruit and soft drinks were provided, and the evening ended with dancing for the adults.
