ACTING OPPORTUNITIES
ROLE OF DAVID GARRICK FAMOUS PARTS TAKEN " Peg of Old Drury," now being filmed at the British and Dominions Studios, Borcham Wood, gives Sir Cedric Hardwicke what are probably the finest acting opportunities over accorded a British film player. A comploto reproduction of old Drury Lane Theatre in 1750, candle-lit, with straw on the pit floor, and filled with a ga}'. bewigged audience was a recent scene in which Sir Cedric, as David Garrick, acted a portion of the ghost scene in " Hamlet'," wearing the Georgian dress that Garrick wore as the Prince ol Denmark. The stage directions, and even the gestures of Garrick as noted by contemporary critics, were strictly adhered to in this scene, and during the course of the picture Garrick is also seen in glimpses of Shvlock, J .car and Drugger in " The Alchemist," thus providing Sir Cedric with magnificent scope for his great histrionic talents. Anna Neagle is playing the title role in "Peg of Old Drury," which features a strong West End cast, including IWargaretta Scott, Jack Hawkins, Hay Petrie, and Robert Atkins.
