MARLENE DIETRICH
NEW CONTRACT SIGNED Miss Matlene Dietrich has just- been given a new contract by Paramount, 7 according to a message from Hollywood, under which she will he paid £' 100,000 a year for two'pictures. Recently she has been paid about £'.'io,ooo a pictnre. The new contract places her ahead of Mae West and all the other highlyremunerated stars except Greta Garbo. Her new contract makes Miss Dietrich one of the three or four highest-paid players the world has seen. The only stars who have earned so much are Tom ' Mix (who made-a much larger number of pictures a year), Marion Davics (who 16 paid £2OOO a week all the year round), ' John Gilbert, and for a year or two A 1 Jolson.
