WOMEN'S LUNCHEON CLUB
There was a crowded gathering at the Women's Luncheon Club gathering held in the Mecca Cafe on Tuesday, to hear Miss Jean Begg tell the story of her experiences in India. The president, Mrs. K. O'Halloran, presided, and Mrs. Kennings acted as hostess. Miss Ida Walker gave a fine rendering of Coleridge Taylor's "This is the Island of Gardens," with Mrs. P. Dellow acting as accompanist.
Miss Begg gave some reminiscences of her visit to London and Geneva, and then told of her work in India. She stressed the centuries of culture that lay behind the Indian woman and the desire of many to-day to secure a university education on English lines.
