"A RUNAWAY GIRL"
OPERATIC SOCIETY SUCCESS The Auckland Amateur Operatic Society's revival of the celebrated musical comedy "A Runaway Girl " at His Majesty's Theatre has proved one of this society's most successful productions. Its season will close on Monday night.- The piece is a very colourful production, with bright costumes and excellent settings, and great charm is given bv the delightful and romantic music, this latter is handled exceptionally well by a very talented cast, outstanding among whom are Miss Doreen Saunders, whose numbers have been enthusiastically received, Miss Beta MacCullay, Mr. Ernest Snell and Miss Svbil Phillipps. As is customary with the society's presentations, the fine chorus work is a feature, with perfect balance and excellently controlled volume. Produced by Major F. H. Lampen, the comedy moves with a swing through many hilarious situations to 'a delightful climax. A tribute must he paid to the work of the ballets and to Miss Joyce Wright, the solo dancer, whose numbers are produced under the direction of Miss Cecil Hall. The musical director is Mr. Colin Muston.,
