TAKAPUNA EX-SOLDIERS

AFFILIATION DECLINED

At the annual conference of the New 2iealand Returned Soldiers' Association in Wellington a petition from the Takapuna Ex-Servicemen's Club asking for affiliation with the New Zealand association, presented by Mr. L. Avarice, was not allowed. Mr. Avarice said the petition was signed by 121 residents of Takapuna. They had endeavoured unsuccessfully to amalgamate with another returned soldiers' organisation in Takapuna, and were dissatisfied with the conduct of the Auckland association.

The Hon. W. Perry, vice-president, said the area of the Auckland association had been defined, and the Taknpuna Ex-Servicemen's Club was within that area. He had heard no reason why they should go on picking the eyes ut of the association. If the appeal for affiliation were refused that would not prevent their continuing to settle the trouble in Auckland.
