ROYAL AUCKLAND CHOIR

Sir, —I had the pleasure of attending the last concert by the above choir, but was pained to see the considerable number of empty seats. It. cannot b e that the concert is not good enough, or that the people would not like to be there, as the Town Hall would be totally inadequate to accommodate all those who would go if there were no charge, as happened at the last free concert during Jubilee Week, when thousands were unable to get in. The answer, of course, is in the price charged for admission. It. seems a pity that such a musical treat should be rendered to empty seats. Three Is seats would pay better than one 2; seat, and I am sure that the singers themselves would far rather sing to a house packed to the doors than to those who were there in spirit only. The atmosphere and applause would be much warmer. I therefore hope that the management will eliminate this mild form of man's inhumanity to man and provide a thousand, or loss even' Is seats at the next concert. lam sure it would be very much appreciated, for do not we all need the inspiration of music and song to cheer m in these hard times? Harmoxt.
