ALL HOME COMFORTS
NEW OIL-TANKER'S CREW The San Ambrosio, a new type of tanker, 11,000 tons deadweight, built by Messrs. Hawthorn Leslie and Company, Hebburn, for the Eagle Oil Company, and which has accommodation for the crew equal to that of passengers on liners, left the Tyne recently on a maiden voyage. Because it is being more and more recognised that tanker crews have to regard their vessel as their home, special attention is being given to accommodation. The San Ambrosio has a smokeroom designed and furnished in Jacobean style; cabins for the seamen fitted with electric fans and steamheated; and separate mossrooms and batlis for each section of the crew.
