{THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE RISE IN RESERVE BANKS A slightly easier tone marked operations on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and" the turnover was reduced considerably. A feature was the strong inquiry, for Reserve Banks, which gold Is 6d higher. No business was done in Government loans, but there was good support for all issues, with improvement in the demand for the 19-55 4 per cents. Reserve hands twice at- £6 14s 6d after earlier dealing Is 3d higher at £'6 14s 3d. More were wanted at £6 14s 6d, offers rising by 6d to that level. Concessions by holders accompanied trading in New Zealands 5d lower' at 50s 6d. New South Wales were done 5s dearer at £3l ss. Some of the other Australian issues had weaker support. especially Commercials, which wer« sought 2d lower at 15s Id. For the first time for some weeks quotations for South British Insurance dropped below 995. Selling limits were reduced to 98s 3d, offers being unchanged at 975. Levels for New Zealands advanced by 3d over all and there was a sale 3d dearer at 70s 9d, at which Diore were unobtainable. Higher levels were maintained for Taupiri Coals, which wjere again placed at 17s. Auckland Gas sold unchanged at 2Ss 3d, but a further parcel was secured at 2Ss. Similarly, Colonial Sugars were obtained au £4O 17s 6d after dealing at the current rate, £4l. Bycrofts sold at 51s 6d, which is 9d higher than in March. Broken Hills and Consolidated Bricks changed hands at late rates.
