WILD PIG WITHOUT EARS
SHOOTING PARTY'S TROPHY [by telegraph—OWN correspondent") NEW PLYMOUTH Mondny A wild pig entirely devoid of ears or car cavities was shot near Mount Messenger to-day by an Inglewood shooting party. From the frontal ridge to the neck the sides of the head were merely expanses of smooth black hair, with a faint scarring visible in tho hide beneath whore tho ears should have been. Commenting on the discovery, a zoologist said that animal freakß of this sort, although rare, were not unique. In all probability, as tho animal was well grown and conditioned, it possessed tho faculty of hearing in some small decree at least, althouugh the ear aperture nad not developed. The head has been preserved and may be sent to Auckland for examination.
