OBITUARY
DR. C. M. HECTOR [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Monday The death has occurred of Dr. Charles Munro Hector, M.D., B.Sc., of Wellington, a son of the late Bir Jamos Hector. Dr. Hector was born in Wellington in 1871, and was educated at Wellington College, Wanganui College and the University of Otago. He completed his medical studies at the University of Edinburgh, where he took the degrees of M.B. and Ch.B. in 1895. His doctorate was awarded by the University of New Zealand in 1900. Since 1920 Dr. Hector had been Government pathologist and coroners' physician. He was a former lecturer and demonstrator on bacteriology at the University of Sheffield. He was president of the Wellington Philosophical Society in 1914 and 1916. From 1905 to 1906 he was editor of the New Zealand Medical Journal. He was married in 1907,- and had three sons and one daughter.
MR. THOMAS OONAOHAN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Conaghnn at the age of 61. He was the oldest employee of the Whangarei Borough Council, having completed 21 years continuous service with the council. In his young dayg he was a prominent Rugby football player ancf athlote. In 1900 he married M iss Caroline Moon, daughter of the first sergeant of police at Whangarei. He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters. MRS. FRANCES BROWN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Monday The death occurred tc-day of Mrs. Frances Brown, widow of the late Mr, Thomas Henry Brown. Mrs. Brown was born at Truro, Cornwall, and with her husband came to New Zealand about 50 years ago and lived at Devonport. They removed later to Pokeno, where Mr. Brown farmed for some years. After the death of her husband at Pokeno 16 years ago, Mrs. Brown came to Tauranga. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Messrs. C. A. and G. H. Brown, of Auckland, and J. B. Brown, of Te Aroha, and Mrs. A. E. Jones, of Tauranga.
