INCIDENT AT MEMORIAL ♦ An instance of the istrorg pride of race which is inherent in the Scottish iseople was civen by Mr. C.\S. Thorn ns in an address to the Christchurcli Businessmen's Club. After referring to the grandeur of the Scottish national war memorial be described how an elderly woman, bent and supporting herself by imeans of a stick, was assisted across the building to til© Cameronians' roll of honour. Whep the woman's daughter suddenly pointed to a name in the pages of the national scroll the old woman steadily drew herself erect with pride and, without a word, walked unsupported from the building. Outside sho remained as straight as any woman 30 years her junior, as she mingled with th<J crowd.
