DR. G. CRAIG'S TRIBUTE EXPERIENCE OF 25* YEARS [BY TELIiGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION']. WELLINGTON, Thursday Testimony to the cleanliness of New Zealand politics was given by Dr. G. Craig, who has just retired from the position of Comptroller of Customs, when speaking at a complimentary luncheon in his honour to-day. "It is a common idea that Ministers endeavour to adjust things in their own interests," saici Dr. Craig. I have been mixed np with the Government for the last quarter of a century, and no Minister has even suggested .or hinted in any way that I should make a recommendation which was not in the dictates of my own opinion. No manufacturer lias over approached, riie or suggested that I should do anything not in accordance with what 1 thought was the right thing to do."
