SECOND SERIES OF MATCHES PONSONBY TO PLAY MARIS! FAST .GAME ANTICIPATED The second series of matches in the second round of the Auckland llugby League's senior championship will be played at Carlaw Park to-morrow, when two games are set down for decision. The other match of the series will be played at Carlaw Park next Monday, when Eichmond will meet Mount Albert. Fast and open football is again anticipated in the matches to-morrow and, judging by the play on -opening day, the games should be keenly contested. Much interest will centre in the strength of the Ponsonby side, which will be making its first appearance this season in the principal mutch against Marist. Lasit season the young Ponsonby players showed great promise, and with the experience gained the team should pro\e more formidable in this year's competition. Marist fielded a good team against. The newly-promoted Mount Albert team is expected to make a great bid to lower Richmond's colours next Monday. It showed promising form in the opening game against City, but on this occasion will be fully tested by a strong side. As a curtain-raiser the Newton team will play Huntly, which is Baid to have some very promising talent. REINSTATEMENT APPROVED The application for reinstatement of \V. Hassan, a former Auckland and New Zealand representative, was discussed at last night's meeting of the New Zealand Rugby League. Mr. W. Taylor (South Auckland) strongly opposed the application owing, lie said, to the trouble caused last season when the Marist Club received 11 setback as the result of certai.i players' action. Mr. R. Dob'e said the Auckland Rugby League had given the matter every consideration and approved the request. The reinstatement was approved. The appointment of selectors for the South Island and New Zealand teams was deferred until next meeting. Mr. W. 0. Carlaw was elected secretary and Mr. H. Culpan treasurer. Mr. E. Stallworthy was appointed deputy-chairman.
