NEXT LONDON SALES VERY FIRM TOME EXPECTED RISE IN PRICES Dalgety and Company, Limited, has received the following cablegram datec May 1 from its London house: —The wool market is very firm. We expect a rise in prices at the opening of the sales on May 7 of 7} per cent to 10 per cent as compared with the closing rates of the last series. The list of arrivals closed on April 29. The following vessels in which we are interested have arrived in time: — Akaroa, Mamari, Maimoa, Northumberland, Rangitiki, Matakana, Waimana. We will sell on May 8, 10, 14, 16, 21 and 24. The sales will close on May 24. GOOD SALE AT BRISBANE HIGHER PRICES OBTAINED . (Received May 2, 9.45 p.m.) ' BRISBANE, May 2 The Brisbane wool sales were continued to-day. There was strong demand for all descriptions and. the market showed a firming tendency. Top prices were: —Greasy, 16d; scoured) 26Jd. There was a further definite advance of 5 per cent. Bidding was keener b.v German representatives who purchased most of the higher priced fleeces. Japanese buyers also provided spirited competition, but Bradford and French operators were quiet. EXPORT OF MEAT LARGER SHIPMENTS MADE LESS FROZEN BEEF Larger shipments of practically all classes of meat have been made to the United Kingdom this season, according to progress returns to April 15 issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. For the period from October 1, 1934, to April 15, 1935, totals ol' 4,836,064 carcases of lambs and 1,086,669 carcases of mutton were shipped, compared with 4,536,062 carcases and 803,280 carcases in the corresponding period of last season. The shipments of chilled beef were 25,721. quarters, against 11,160 quarters, anc. of boneless beef, 113,793 bags, against; 101,378 bags. Pork exported amounted, to 346,212 carcases, compared witli 274,505 carcases. The only decrease halt been in frozen beef, of which 168,740 quarters were sent, against 219,68 ii quarters. Practically all shipments wern made to the United Kingdom.
