THE MAYOR'S RETIREMENT

MINUTE AND ADDRESS DEPUTY-MAYOR'S SERVICES In view of the approaching retirement of the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, the City Council last night, on the motion of the deputy-mayor, Mr. A. J. Entrican, set up a sub-committee to draft a minute placing on Vecord the council's appreciation of Mr. Hutchison's services to the city during his four years of office, and to arrange for the preparation of an album containing a short address and photographs of councillors for presentation to him as a memento. The sub-committee consists of the Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C., Miss E. Melville. Mr. E. Pheliln, the town clerk, Mr. J. S. Brigham, and Mr Entrican. Mr. Phelnn remarked tbat the council ought to consider the recognition in a similar way of long service by deputymayors and councillors. In tho # past many councillors had given conspicuous service and had retired without oven a scrap of paper by way of acknowledgment; they had gono out and been forgotten. , Mr. M. J. Bennett then moved that a sub-committee consisting of Mr, J. B. Paterson, Miss Melville, the town clerk and the mover bo set tip to prepare a minute and- address for presentation to Mr. Entrican, who was retiring after many years of notable public service. The motion was carried.
