A RATEPAYER'S GRIEVANCE

Sir, —Some time ago I applied for a position on the staff of the Auckland Electric Power Board. The usual formalities were complied with, viz., the filling in of application form, providing testimonials and so on. I was formally notified to call and see the manager at my convenience, and there the matter seems to have ended. Now, what appears to me to be a strange anomaly is that whilst only ratepayers may vote on board matters, a goodly portion of the staff is comprised not only of nonratepayers, but non householders as well, find to one like myself, who has been an Auckland ratepayer for 24 vears, it is to put it mildly, not a fair thing Ellerslie.
