BUTTER MARKET QUIET

NO CHANGE IN PRICES AMERICAN BUYING OVER There is no improvement in the London butter market. Tho demand is very quiet and New Zealand is selling unchanged at 74s to 75s per ewt. The cheese market also is slow. A report issued by Joseph Nathan and Company, Limited, states that it is doubtful if any great improvement in tho butter market can be expected for a while yet, in view of the increased shipments from Australia counter-balancing tho lower New Zealand export. Tho firm states that further shipments to tho Uuited States are unlikely this year. Merchants have received the following cablegrams, dated March 13, from their London principals:— Dalgety and Company, Limited, from Samuel Pago and Son, Limited.—Butter: New Zealand, finest salted, 74b to 755; Australian, finest unsalted, 76s to 78s; salted, 73s to 745; general, average quality, 71s to 725. Cheese':' New Zealand, white, 44s 6d to 455; coloured, 45s to 465; Canadian, white and coloured, 5Ss to 625. Both markets arc weak.
