OVERSEA LOANS

All) IN CONVERSION A PROPOSAL SUPPORTED The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board decided yesterday to support a remit to be moved by the Auckland City Council at the forthcoming Municipal Association conference in the following terms:—"That the Government be requested to facilitate the conversion of local body oversea loans at present held in London and elsewhere, in cases where any local body desires to proceed with such conversion proposals." It was reported that four of the board's loans, totalling £288,300, were domiciled in London. Regarding the loans, totalling £130,500, affected by the recent conVersion order, the engineer-secretary, Mr. H. H. Watkins, reported that applications for the conversion of £129,300 "worth of debentures had been received and no dissents had been recorded up •to the closing date, February 1.
