OPOTIKI BOROUGH WORK
HIGHWAY CLASSIFICATION [BY telegraph—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI.. Wednesday At a meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council, the Mayor, Mr. G. S. Moody, presided. A letter from the Main Highways Board urged that recently-declared highways be classified. The Public Works Department, Tauranga, wrote on the same subject, stating- that classification applied equally to old highways. Mr. Anderson said that the only thing to do was to get the roads classified immediately. The Municipal Association wrote asking for the names of delegates to the annual conference, but the council decided that there was no money to spend on delegates. The Opotiki Agricultural and Pastoral Association wrote asking for a remission of rates on the showground. The council decided that it could not afford to grant the request.
