EMPIRE EXPORTS
BRITISH QUOTA PLAN AUSTRALIA'S ATTITUDE WILL FIGHT RESTRICTION (Received February 11. 10.35 p.m.) SYDNEY. Feb. 11 The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, in an address to the Constitutional Association, reiterated that Australia would put up a strenuous fight against the British policy of restricting Empire exports. He emphasised that the Commonwealth's future attitude in regard to immigration was hound up in the problem.
The Federal Cabinet has notified the High Commissioner in London, Mr. S. M. Bruce, that the Commonwealth is willing to co-operate in a further three months' quota for Empire meat exports to Britain, pending the forthcoming discussions in London on a long-term policy.
