Voitre arrived in Sydney by tho Monowai. They will go to Melbourne this evening. CHRISTCHURCH NOTES CUDDLE GOING TO DUNEDIN [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday The owner-trainer of Cuddle decided to-day to continue her engagement in the Dunedin Cup and will take her and Sunny Maid south to-morrow. In her 12 races this season Cuddle has been eight times first, twice second and once third, and her stakes for these performances have amounted to £1286. Silver Ring will be ridden at the Dunedin meeting by D. O'Connor, who was successr ful on the Silverado gelding in the James Ilazlett Gold Cup twelve months ago. O'Connor will also ride Knock Out in her races. L. J. Ellis will have the mounts on Great Shot, Silver Coat, Venite, Coatette nnd Imperial Spear, if started in the Steward's Handicap. G. Humphries will ride Hunting Go nnd Honeste, and B. H. BTodie will be on Madam Pompadour and Queen of j3ong. A. E. Ellis will probably be riding at thfe Egmont meeting this week. Fair Weather did not race up to expectations on Saturday and as he showed signs of lameness afterwards he will probably not be taken to Dunedin. TRAINING AT WINGATUI CHERRY QUEEN'S SPRINT [BY TELEGRAFH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Monday Mild misty rain fell at Wingatui this morning, and the atmosphere was heavy and against fast times. Prince Tractor was sent a mile on tho plough, finishing strongly over the last three furlongs in 40 l-ss. Morena was sent a mile cn the same track, running the last six furlongs in 1.25 3-5, nnd the last three in 43 2-ss. This horse is very well just now. The Last Dart—Matukomoana filly ran five furlongs in 1.3 3-5, but appeared to be sore on walking away. Ramo waß sent ten furlongs, taking 1.44 3-5 for the last seven furlongs. Last Link, carrying about 8.7, was sent ten furlongs on the course proper, the trestles being wide out, and, picked up by Chhota over the last six furlongs. Last Link took 55 3-5s for the first four, 1.8 for five, 1.21 3-5 for six, 1.35 for seven, and finished tho journey in 2.21. He was tiring at the finish, and Chhota was going much the better. Viking was sent five furlongs on tho same track and was going easily all the way to record 1.10. Cherry Queen was cantered round the insido track twice and then sprinted five furlongs on the course proper in 1.5 2-5. A large number of other horses were trotted and cantered. LICENCE RESTORED i * APPEAL BY F. HOLMES After the ringing of the Mace Memorial Handicap at the New Brighton Trotting Club's meeting on December 8 the stewards inquired into happenings during the race, and fined E. J. Smith, driver of Sea Gift, £2O for striking F. Holmes, driver of Margaret Chenault, with his whip, and Holmes, in turn, was fined £2O for interference with Sea Gift. Holm en appealed to the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association, which body endorsed the action of the New Brighton Club and dismissed the appeal. It was also decided to cancel the driving licence held by Holmes from January 21, and to grunt him ;i conditional licence for three months ficm the samo date. It was decided to endorse the club'B action in fining Smith £2O. Holmes then further appealed to the New Zealand Trotting Conference against the association's ruling, and last Friday the appeal was heard before the judges, Messrs. A. T. Donnelly, W. T. Franks and_ W. Perry, who delivered the following judgment:—Tho judges, having considered the evidence nnd heard the parties concerned, are of opinion that the decision of tho association was right, except that the appellant's horseman's licence should not have been withdrawn. The nppeai is dismissed, but we direct that the licence of appellant bo restored to him. Wo also direct that the applicant's deposit be returned.

VINTAGE'S AUSTRALIAN TRIP DEPARTURE NEXT FRIDAY Vintage and Lady Graceful will be shipped from Wellington for Sydney and Melbourne by the Wa.nganella next Friday ■under the charge of their trainer, Mrs. J. Campbell. The owner, Mr. D. W. Westenra, and Mrs. Westenra will also travel by the same steamer. Owing to the banning of women trainers in Australia it is the intention of Mr. Westenra to apply for a licence to train his own horses during then; stay in Australia.
