Jan. 10 The Australian lawn tennis championships were continued at Kooyong to-day. There were 4500 spectators. Results were: — Men's Singles.—Semi-final: Crawford defeated Quist, 6—l, I—6, 6—2, 3 —6, 6 —3. Men's Doubles. Quarter-finals : Hopman and Maier defeated Menzel and Moon, 6 —4, 6 —l, 4 —B, 6—B, 7—5; Perry and Hughes defeated Hopman and Maier, 6 —3, 7—5, 6 —3. Women's Singles.—Mrs. Hopman defeated Miss Walters, 4—6, 6—l, 6 Miss Lyle defeated Miss Bickerton,; iG —2, B—6.8 —6. Women's Doubles. —Mesdames Molesworth and Westacott defeated Misses G. and D. Stevenson, 6—3. 6 —3. Quarter-final: Misses Round and Coyne defeated Mrs. Malcolm and Miss Chitty, 6—2, 6 —o. Semi-final: Misses Lyle and Dearman defeated Mesdames Molesworth and Westacott, 6—4, 6—4. Suffering from the weakness of his first service Crawford was taken ( to five sets in the first semi-final. Although Quist was defeated he enhanced his reputation. He drove splendidly and showed ability to take the offensive.
