"SCARLET PIMPERNEL"

AUTHOR'S SON ASSISTS

Advice on matters of historical accuracy in the making of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" at London Film Studios was provided by Mr. John OrczyBarstow, son of the Baroness Orczy, who wrote the book. The "Pimpernel" story was originally written in 190.3 as a tale of adventure in Russia for a newspaper serial. At that time the relations between England and Russia were somewhat strained and the serial was withdrawn after two instalments. Baroness Orczv then adapted the story to the French Revolution period. The enormous popularity of the book can be gathered from the fact that over three and a-half million copies have heen sold in England alone. The novel has also been translated into 23 languages so the total sales must reach a staggering figure. United Artists will release "The Scarlet Pimpernel."
