CARDINAL'S COMPLAINT (Received January 3, 8.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 3 *' The attitude of Australian Governments to Roman Catholics in the matter of education is deplorable," said Cardinal Macrory, who visited Melbourne for the Centenary celebrations, prior to his departure for New Zealand by the Niagara. "It is infinitely worse than the attitude of the Protestant Government of Northern Ireland to Roman Catholic schools and infinitely worse than the attitude of the Roman Catholic Government of the Irish Free State to Protestant schools. "In Australia Roman Catholics pay their share of the taxes required to maintain the public schools and then have to pay heavily for the maintenance of their own non-subsidised schools."
