CRUISE OF THE MONOWAI
VISIT TO BAY OF ISLANDS HISTORIC PLACES INSPECTED [BY RADIO—SPECIAL REPORTER] MONOWAI, Wednesday In continuation of her northern cruise the Union Steam Ship Company's liner Monowai arrived in the Bay of Islands at 10 o'clock last evening and anchored off Russell. This raorning the famous Bay of Islands looked its most beautiful in the bright Bunshine, but later a misty rain developed. Nevertheless, a thoroughly enjoya.ble time was spent by the passengers. In the morning the passengers were taken to Paihia, the Waitangi. Falls i and the old Busby Residency, a picnic morning tea being provided on shore at the Waitangi inlet. Both at Paihia and Waitangi guides explained points of historical interest. Launch communication was maintained with Russell in the afternoon, and most of the passengers went ashore, particular interest being taken in the historic Anglican Church and Pompallier House. In spite of the weather many climbed Flagstaff Hill. In the evening a treasure hunt was arranged, There was also dancing.
