TEMPERANCE WORK
The annual meeting of the Epsom brar.ch of the Women s Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesday afternoon at the home of the secretary, Mrs. Carr, Greenlane. Mrs. Neal presided. Devotions were led by Mrs. Gilmour, who spoke on " Sanctified Womanhood," . giving examples from women of the-Bible. Reports of all departments of work were given, showing steady progress and faithful work done. Mrs. Kasper'B report of her work ns leader of the Young People's department known as the Loyal Temperance Legion, was very encouraging. Mrs. Rewa Bennett, J.P., gave an interesting account of " The Customs of Maori Betrothal." The previous officers were all re-elec-ted, the name of Mrs. Gilmour being added to the list of vice-presidents. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Harold Carr and Miss Mabel Hogg.
