The annual meeting of the Ohope Progress League was held last- evening, Mr. A. J. Canning presiding over a large attendance. A number of matters relating to the welfare and improvement of the were discussed. The' committee's action in offering to pay the cost of improving tho " access to Otarawairere Bay was confirmed and tho work is to be put in hand by the Whakatane County 'Council immediately. . The following officers were elected: President, Mr. A. J. Canning; vice•president, Mr. W. Sullivan; committee, Messrs. H. G. Rand. F. B. Cutler, JR. Hume, F. Lysaght, N. S.' Coney, N. Carter. G. Caisley, S. S. Shapley and J. Arres; secretary-treasurer, Mr. C. S. Armstrong.
