MASTER NORVAL SCRATCHED i _____ FOUR HURDLERS ARRIVE RIDING- ENGAGEMENTS Master Norval was scratched for the Te Awamutu Cup, to be run at the YVaipa Hating Club's annual meeting to-morrow, at 11.30 a.m. yesterday. Miss' Lorraine was scratched for the Kihikihi Hack Handicap at 9.40.

TAKANINI TRACK WORK GAY BLONDE GOES WELL FAST FOUR FURLONGS Conditions, after the rain, were ideal for training work at Takanini yesterday, when tho inside grass was available for fast work. A brilliant halfmile by the Railway Handicap candidate Gay Blonde was the feature of tho morning's work. Alignment (Glynn) was not doing his best to run three furlongs in 395. This horse is progressing well after having a good spell.' Carrickore was let oil with a comparatively easy task. He appears to have done a lot of work before coming to Auckland. Gay Blonde (Tilsley) took 11 3-5s for the first furlong and camo home strongly .at tho end of half a mile in 47 l-ss. Although lightly weighted. Gay Blonde recorded a pleasing effort and alio pulled up splendidly. ' Nun Nicer (Fenrn) and Matorni (Jones) were both doing well at the end of six furlcngs in 1.17, the last half-mile in 51s. Matorni finished particularly well and appears to be at his best, Rimu Rose, a filly by Vaals. hit out nicely while sprinting up the straight. She is well grown and is now making excellent progress. High Tea and Gay Sheik were not at top while running five furlongs in 1.14. Both had recently shown signs of soreness and Gay Sheik is etill moving a little short. Kilonson' (Forsyth) was not extended to run half a' mile in 575. She has brightened up of late and is showing useful speed in her work. Flood 'Tide (.Jones) waa all out to run half a mile in 50 2-ss. He has not done a great deal of galloping and his display was encouraging. Lifeguard (Fearn,) was less than a length in front of Persian (Forsyth) at the end of half a mile smartly run in vfts. Lifeguard showed his usual, early speed and Persian was running on well at the end. P. E. Pope will take The Hiker and Acranna f ,o Te Awamutu, A, Tinker will be represented by Spear:ourt and W. Jarvis by Lifeguard. Lifeguard leaves by train today and the other three will travel by motor-float to-morrow.

KOHEWAH AT EPSOM NOW IN BROUGHTON'S STABLE The trotting marc Kohewah lias arrived at Epsom and has gone into A. W. Broughton's stable. Two seasons ago, when trained by Broughton at Tamahere, Kohe\*»<h displayed fine form, winning, four races, her last success being scored in tho Leamington Handicap at Cambridge, from 132 yds bhd.
