ELLERSLIE TRAINING

SOME USEFUL GALLOPS KILTOWYN AND BAROSCOPE —— / « SCHOOLING OF JUMPERS Conditions were very favourable for training operations at Ellerslie yesterday, when the weather was fine and the tracks were mellow after rain. No really fast times were recorded, but some very useful gallops were performed on tho course proper, where the flags were out ou feet. The best effort of the morning was registered by Kiltowyn and Baroscope, who worked after the breakfast interval. They ran a mile in 1.45 4-5. the last six furlongs in 1.20 2-5.

On the course proper Zane Grey (Gilchrist) was well clear of Neil (Mcllroy) at the end of a working effort over about a mile and a-half, the last round in 2.20 4-5 and the last four furlongs in 57g. £ e el 3!.l l 3!. stro( le over six furlong 6in 1.-7 4-!>. Tins tluee-yoar-old is making good progress and F. Gilchrist will lia\-c him in excellent condition for his engagements at the summer meeting, the first of which is the Queen s Plate. .Merry Lap (Holland) and On Parade (Lacasisie) were associated over six furlongs in 1.251 4-5, the .first three in 40s. Merry Lan is m great heart, and in appearance Mountain Breeze is one of the most improved hov&es at headquarters. Chief Emerald (Miles) was six lengths ahead-of Supreme Ruler (medium weight) at the end of a mile in 1.50 l-p, the last six furlonirs in 1,24 2-5. Firebrick (Simpson) covered three furlongs easily in 45 3-ss. Killiidar (Cammick) and Crooning (Manson), after running the first three in 38 4,55. completed six ( furlong» in 1.21 4-ss. They were on terms at the finish and both were running along nicely. Delrain and Barograph Royul Appellant (Buchanan) and Hawthorn (medium weight) placed five furlongs behind in 1.7 1-5, going fast over the first two in 25 4-ss. Royal Appellant has not «hown his true form this season and his failure to run well is puzzling, because he had n good wintering and has been very patiertly handled. Deli ain.; (L.. Dulieu) and Barograph (Reilly) were companions over six furlongs in 1.215 1-5. They finished together and Delrain went with more freedom with the ating out.oi the ground. Air Lassie (Malison), after covering the first three- in 40 l-sa, was going nicely at the endot six furlongs in 1.23. Sir Abb (Walsh) and Mountain Hrecjse (Moore) ran their first two furlongs in' 25 4-ss. and cot to tho end of five furlongs in 1.8 2-5. Psy;hologist (L. Dulieu) ran six furlongs in 1.53 1-5 i the first two in 28 l-ss. Jalld.v Karo (Miles) was timed to run an easy half in 55 2-ss. Kiltowyn CL. Dulieu) and Baroscope (Maneon) .vent a mile in 1:45 4-5. They ran the first naif jn 51 2-5s and the last six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. Both worked nicely and appeared to relish tho easy going. Baroscope finishing just in front of Kiltowyn. who was travelling comfortably. Courthaven (Gilchrist) ran a mile -in 1.45 11-5, the first half in 52 l-5s and tho last tiix in 1.21 4-5. On the No. 3 grass Aubrctia (Manson) dashed over three furjongs in 37 3-ss. Aubretia is to leave for Dann;virke to-day. Wee Pat Works Well Wei Pat, King March and Gay Broney were in the-order named-at the eonolusion of a Mile in 1,4(5 3-5. the firet half in 51 l-ss. Barn Dance assisted over the last seven furlongs and finished in front. Wee Pat was in behind in tUo early stages, but finished on resolutely, apparently being suited by the easy going. King March worked lazily and Gay Broney again showed signs qf soreness, when easing up at the finish.. Chromadyne (Fergus) and' Kilmuir (Burgess) gave a good display, of jumpinff over four hurdles, although the former ran about a little at the third fence. Thfispis: (Burgess) and Dortio .(Baker) were associated in * schobling bout over a round of the steeplechase fences, commencing at the (stonewall and finishing at the fenc# near the mile post. Thespis was allowed to stride along and gave a good display until he hit the.' stonewall very hard near the end of bis work. He was taken back and jumped the stonewall in gopd style. Domo gave a very satisfactory display.

Aetarth was going > comfortably alongside Dusii, Up to record 3£lJs for three furlongs. Mnid of the Air did not put much dash -into her work to run six furlongs in 1.23. Trishna and Kurapae were galloped a mile, the last six furlongs in 1.22. The two-year-olds Opinion. Tonnere and the Illumination—Glenval gelding were on terms at the end of two furlongs in 255. Tuahaehe and Tawhaiao dashed over half a mile on the plough in 50s, the first-named doing the better at the finish. Loombination and Valmanna. took 51s lor a similar distance. Coronia was under a strong pull to run six furlongs in 1.25. She is in great heart. Pahu, Callamart and Billy .Boy. who arrived this morning* were exercised on tne plough.

Mustang and Royal Secret ran five furlongs in 1.8 3-5, the former scoring by a neck. Gay Rose gfi d King Mestor finished together after sprinting' three furlongs in 375. Mwir and Ace High took 54s for half * Mungacre, who has just resumed work after a let-up fpr some weeks, was sent a round on the plough, on which King Ara and I'm Lap were also worked. Engi and Nahlin ran five furlongs tn 1.2 4-5, finishing together. Mungatoon, accompanied by Lagoon over the Inst six, ■ complotod seven . furlongs in 1.28 2-5, the last six in 1.15 2-5. Mungatoon was ar head in front at the end. Record Flight, picked up by Don't Lap at the six-furlongs post, ran a mile in 1.45, the last eix in 1.18.
