TO-MORROW'S RACES

GOOD TRAINING WORK gallop by synagogue gold trail goes well [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] 'WELLINGTON, Thursday A continuation of the brilliant summer weather that has been experienced in Wellington lately was well in evidence at Trcntham this morning. As a result of the prevailing conditions the tracks were very fast and the plough track, left unwatered at the request of traiuers, registered times that would be exceptional under ordinary conditions. Automatic sprinklers that have been ; in operation on the tracks nightly for some time past have proved a wonderful success. Had it not been for them the going on the grass and the course proper would have been like concrete now. As a result of the spraying that has been done through them the going is absolutely devoid of "bone" and will be in really first-class * order. Red Sun opened the morning's proceedings by running a mile at a very even pace, taking 51 }s for each half As usual he worked well, but he is a long time winning a race, llias easily held Sansl'oy over half a mile in 51 4-5s llias is £i half-sister by Iliad to the speedy Dole, and she looks a likely sort, Sunoe held the upper hand from Orby's Lust at the end of six furlongs in 1.15, the last half in 50s. For hacks this was excellent time. Sunee went well. « - f Blue Boy and Wahine Nui sprinted at the end of their tasks. Diamond and Linoleum ran five in 1.4, the Inst halfmile in isls. Diamond held his companion comfortably and he looks greatly improved,, He afterwards jumped three schooling hurdles: and his display wan first-class, Autopav dashed off as usual as soon as he got on the track and he ran home the last half in 50s, a good effort for him when working the- correct way round, 81. Goldfinch will ride him ou Saturday. Mile by The Khedive Arctic King was better than Roderick Dhu over si* furlongs, the. last half in olis. The former is sporting a knee, which does not appear to affect his galloping. - The Khedive ran a mile in 1.43}, going faiit over the first four, but it was a good gallop for a maiden. Purse and Safari ran seven in 1.29 4-5, with little between them. Safari is a thickwinded customer. Synagogue showed a lot of dash in a six-furlongs gallop with Lady -Kyra, and on the outside running held her off at the finish in the excellent timo' of 1.14, the last half in the vicinity of 48s. Lady Kyra was carrying a trifle more weight, hut the colt looked too solid for her. He has greatly improved, Going Gay got away from Princess Doreen in the early stages of their five furlongs and she ran home in 1.2}, Princess Doreen taking 1.3}. Gold Trail went slowly over the first furlong. of a mile, but was swinging along as she passed the seven and she registered 1.29, the last half in 50s. She worked particularly well. Maine ran six in 1.15 and did it nicely. </,■ > Passion Fruit and Cyclonio, after Bonie messing about on the part of Cyclonic, went off practically from a stand and just inside the six furlongs nmrk Cyclonic ran off the track but was on again before reaching the turn and they ran home the last half in 50s, both doing it particularly well, especially Cyclonic. Might Impresses

- Might had Darecourt as a mate in the early stages of once round. The last mils was run in 1.43 and the last half in 51£, and Might came home alone over the last three to finish a good gallop impressively. The two-year-olds worked, on the outside of the' course proper. Nightlass, East Cape and Carpathia ran down from the five furlongs. Sporting Blood worked but he did not gallop. He looks fit and well, and according to his trainer, A. Mcintosh, has done all that has been asked of him since he raced at the New Zealand Cup meeting. The Hunting Song two-year-old Pakanui is at Trentham and was among the early moraine workers. He had a hard race at Feiklmg, but it does not appear to have tightened him up in f the least. He possesses a remarkably even temperament and should race well here. P. S. Atkins rode him at Feilding, and Atkins also rode Haut Monde when he won at Woodville. Possibly Atkins is in a quandary as to which colt is the better mount for Trentham. Dole was a brilliant youngster and his half-sister Ilias, by Iliad, while not showing, the dash that he did, looks a solid filly, and she shaped pleasingly in her gallop. She will be having her first start on Saturday.^ Gold Trail's work was very solidly accomplished and on indications she has improved as the result of her two races at Woodville. Auckland Horses Arrive

The Auckland horses Solarium, Gay Marigold and Caliente arrived at Trentham this morning,-and E. J. Ellis came up from Washdyke with Silver Coat and Hunting Go., The Taranaki, Wanganui, Marton and Manawatu horses fire due to-night and twenty will arrive from the south to-morrowj so that it is evident that the fields will be large. The scratching of Inflation for his engagement in the Bledisloe Stakes was not a surprise. He has raced twice recently, once at- Feileling, and the second time at Woodville on Monday. On each occasion he pulled up very tender. It will be surprising if he is able to come back to anything like form, at least wjii]t» the tracks are hard. Silver Sight was scratched for the Duke of Gloucester Handicap at 3 p.m. He wan one of the Riccarton contingent, and while'his form made him a light-weight prospect, his absence will not affect the t interest in the race. Boyal Banquet has been scratched for the Haeremai High-weight, the opening event at tho meeting. The two-year-old Boomerang knocked himself slightly and will not be a starter in the Balmoral Stakes

Two-year-old Brackets Then* will be no fe\yer than three brackets in the two-year-old race, Haut Monde and Kotou, Round Up find Hunting Scene, and Happy Landing and XI Diiee,. Cuddle, who is ijow top-weight for the concluding event, has come down to Trentham from Woodville where she ran away with the hack distance event last Saturday. Cuddle is a greatly improved mare and should run well at Trentham for all her weight. Additional riding engagements are: — K- Voitro, Legatee, Lady Kyra and Conrtega; S. Anderson, Round Score, Fairfax. Bonnie Vale and Cardinal {Sloan; R. Reed. Round Up and Spiral; X,. J. F.llis, Sweet Agnes, Snorting flood and Rebel Chief; S. Wilson, Sniper Paratus and Wahine Nui; J. Sheehan, Purse and Nightlass; K. -Marsh., Kocket and Cottesmore. " *•
