EXPORT OF MEAT

RETUKNS FOR NOVEMBER EXPANSION IN PIGS LAMB KILLINGS DECLINE ' * Killings and exports of pigs from New Zealand for the first two months of the current season -to November 30 have almost doubled compared with the previous season. According to the latest returns of the Meat Producers' Board, 108,786 carcases of pork were sent overseas in October-November, 1934, against 58,585 carcases last season. An exceptionally late lamb killing season is reflected in the returns.

Exports of frozen beef for the period amounted to 75,702 quarters, against 11,256 quarters last year, when an embargo was in operation. Boneless beef shipments also have increased, being 52,725 bags, against 25,407 bags. Shipments of mutton show a rise of 100 per cent for the two months' period, the totals being 125,190 carcases and 03,727 carcases respectively. The export of lambs has declined, the shipments this year being 320,076 carrases, against 356,552 carcases in the previous year. In addition, 3169 quarters of chilled beef have been shipped to date this season. Very little trade has been done outside Great Britain.

Stocks in ships not departed from New Zealand at November 30 compare as follows: —Beef* 1281 (41.021); wethers, 11,193 (11,826); ewes, '3,127 (5,295); lamb, 73,130 (93.702); porkers, 11,176 (10,285); baconers, 880 (2,778). Shipments of meat from Australia and South America to the United Kingdom during November were as follows: —Australia: Carcases mutton, 137,457; carcases lamb, 989,208; quarters beef (frozen), 80,452. South America:. Carcases mutton, 3616; carcases lamb, 351,940; beef (frozen), 4693; quarters beef (Mulled), 387,235. The New Zealand shipments were:— Carcases mutton, 34,921; carcases lamb, 227,750; quarters beef (frozen), 32,015; quarters beef (chilled), 3469.

BRITISH TRADE NOVEMBER RESULTS PRELIMINARY FIGURES (Received December 13, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Dec. 13 Preliminary figures of overseas trade during November are:—lmports, £64,687,000; exports, £36,125,000; reexports, £4,000,000. The imports were of considerably smaller value than in the previous month, but somewhat greater than in the corresponding month last year. The exports were only a little under the October total, but were well above that for November, 1933.

Finest butper is selling at 70s to 71s per cwt., while white cheese is worth 44s and coloured 435. Merchants have received the following cablegrams, dated December 12, from their London principals:— Joseph Nathan- and Company, Limited, from Trengrouse and Nathan, Limited. —Butter: Finest, 71s; first, 70s.
