QUIETER CONDITIONS RULE
Quieter conditions ruled in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday and the turnover was reduced considerably. Levels, especially for industrials, were inclined to be easier. No business was done in Government loans, in which operations were restricted. The 1910 and 1946 4 per cent issues had slightly better support, but there was a weaker demand for the Si per cents. Bank of New Zealands were taken unchanged at 495, but levels dropped by about 3d all round and two parcels were transferred later at 48s lOd. Reserve Banks were steady and a lot was released at the current rate, £'G lis. There was no dealing in the Australian issues, but Commercials and New South Wales showed improvement on the bidding A rise in levels for New Zealand Insurance accompanied a sale 3d dearer at 6Ss 9tl. South British were a shado easier. . . In coals Renown Collieries were transferred 6d higher at 4s 6d. Auckland Gas shares were taken unchanged at 275, but more were not wanted at that price. Northern Steamship gained 2d in a sale at 6s lOd and New Zealand Refrigerating (10s paid) changed hands Id higher at 10s Id. A concession was made by holders of Colonial Sugars, which were accepted 5s lower at £i2 15s and at £42 17s 6d. More were available at £42 17s 6d. Milne and Choyce debentures were secured unchanged at 19s 3d.
