HELP FOR NEEDY
MOUNT ALBERT CASES YEAR'S RECORD WORK A report on the #ork carried out during the year by the Mount Albert Welfare Committee was given by the chairman, Mr. D. L. Thomas, at the final meeting of the committee for the year. In thanking the members for their work, Mr. Thomas said the assistance given in Mount Albert to the sick and needy had exceeded that of any previous year. Over 300 families had been helped, 1100 grocery orders had been issued and 40 tons of firing. 120 pairs of new shoes, 200 pairs of secondhand shoes and 2000 new garments had been distributed. Two gallons of emulsion had been provided for cases of sickness. The committee expressed its appreciation of the free medical attention given by Dr. J. A. Paterson and Dr. M. B. Gunn, and of the services of Mr. N. A. Stringer as secretary. A vote of thanks to the chairman was also passed.
