FINE FOR THE MOST PART ISOLATED LOCAL SHOWERS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand., issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows: —The recent depression is moving away eastward and a moderate anti-cyclone is advancing from tbe Tasman Sda on to New Zealand. The indications are for south-westerly to southerly winds, moderate to strong' but decreasing, and later veering to north-westerly in the far south. Seas moderate south of Farewell Spit and north of East Cape; elsewhere rather rough, but moderating. In the eastern Tasman Sea, moderate to fresh winds south-easterlies prevailing in the northern portion; elsewhere south-westerlies but veering to north-westerlies later in the southern portion. Weather for the most part fine, but a few isolated local showers ard probable. Temperatures moderate, but rising again tomorrow. SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST FINE AND RATHER COOL The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate south-west-erly winds, turning to southerly or south-easterly. Weather fine ancf rather cool. Seas moderate on the east coast and rather rough on the west coast. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Generally fine weather, with a few scattered clouds, prevailed vesterday. there being a south-westerly breeze. The barometer remained steady at 30in. during the day and showed a slight upward tendency in the evening. The-temperature at 4 p.m. was 71 grees. Barometer, midnight, rising .. 30.021n. Midnight, Wednesday .. 29.98 in. Wellington.—The, weather was beautifully fine and though a rather fresh southerly wind blew allday. The maximum temperature was 71.7 degrees. Christchurch. —Sunny weather, with passing clouds, was experienced. The maxumum temperature was 67.5 degrees. There was a light west-south-westerly breeze in the morning and a strong "east-north-easterly in the afternoon. Last evening the barometer was rising at 30.08 in. Dunedin. —There was a continuation of fine weather, with considerable cloud and a fresh southerly wind. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees.
