RAGWORT MENACE
AREAS NEAR OPOTIKI INTENSIVE ATTACK UPON WEED [by TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Thursday Great activity is being shown by the Opotiki County Council in its endeavours to eradicate ragwort which has become a decided menace in the county, it is very prevalent on some river beds and adjoining lands and a large number of relief workers has been employed for some time spraying the areas with sodium chlorate. Although the effects of their work are beginning to be seen, there still a large area of Crown and unoccupied lands affected.
